Trim Videos While Recompressing
March 20, 2026 • VideoRecompress Studio Team
We are excited to announce a new feature in VideoRecompress Studio: video trimming.
You can now trim the start, end, or extract a specific time range from your videos — all while
recompressing them in a single pass. No need to open a separate video editor first.
Why Trim + Compress in One Pass?
If you have ever wanted to remove an intro, cut out the last few seconds of dead air, or keep just
one segment of a longer recording, you typically need two steps: trim in an editor, then compress.
VideoRecompress Studio now combines both operations into one, saving you time and avoiding a
redundant intermediate file.
Four Trim Modes
The trimming feature offers four flexible modes to cover different workflows:
- Skip From Start — Remove the first N seconds. Great for cutting countdown timers, intros, or recording lead-in.
- Skip From End — Remove the last N seconds. Ideal for removing outros or accidental extra recording.
- Keep First — Keep only the first N seconds of each video. Useful for creating preview clips.
- Custom Range — Specify exact start and end times. Full control over exactly which segment to keep.
Batch and Per-File Control
The trim settings work at two levels:
- Batch mode: Apply the same trim rule to all selected videos at once. For example, skip the first 5 seconds of every file in your batch.
- Per-file override: Right-click any video in your file list and choose Set Trim... to set a custom start/end time for that specific file. Per-file settings override the batch rule.
This makes it easy to process a large collection of videos while still having precise control
over individual files when you need it.
How It Works
- Add your videos in Step 1 as usual.
- In Step 2, check the Enable trimming checkbox in the TRIM section.
- Select a trim mode and enter the duration or time range.
- Optionally, right-click individual files in Step 1 to set per-file trim ranges.
- Click Start Recompression — trimming and compression happen in one pass.
The integrity verifier automatically adjusts its duration check to account for the trimmed output,
so you can keep verification enabled without false positives.
