We comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Swedish data protection laws.

1. Information We Collect

Website Analytics: We use Google Analytics to collect anonymized usage data such as page views, referral sources, browser type, and approximate geographic location. This data is aggregated and cannot be used to identify individual users.

Support Form Data: When you submit a support request through our contact form, we collect your name, email address, and message content. This data is used solely to respond to your inquiry.

License Validation: The Software sends periodic license validation requests containing your license key and a machine identifier. No personal files, video content, or usage data is transmitted.

Payment Information: Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not store credit card numbers or bank details on our servers. Stripe's privacy policy governs the handling of your payment data. We receive only a transaction confirmation, your email address, and the license tier purchased.

  • Application Logging (Serilog): Error and diagnostic logs are stored locally on your computer at %APPDATA%\VideoRecompressStudio\logs\. Logs are never transmitted to our servers. They remain on your device and are automatically deleted after 7 days.

5. Data Retention

  • Support requests: Retained for up to 2 years after the last communication, then deleted.
  • License records: Retained for the lifetime of your license for activation and support purposes.
  • Analytics data: Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted.
  • Payment records: Retained as required by Swedish tax law (7 years for financial records).

6. Your Rights (GDPR)

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal retention requirements.
