Finding the perfect frame in a long video used to mean scrubbing through the timeline manually. VideoRecompress Studio now does it for you. The new Smart Best Frames mode uses scene detection to analyze your videos, rank every scene change by visual impact, and extract only the most interesting frames automatically.

How Smart Best Frames Works

Instead of extracting frames at fixed intervals, Smart Best Frames runs a two-pass analysis on your video:

• Scene Detection — The first pass scans the entire video and detects every scene change, scoring each transition by how visually distinct it is.
• Top-N Selection — The highest-scoring scenes are selected as the best thumbnail candidates. You choose how many frames you want (1 to 50).
• Adjustable Sensitivity — Control how many scene changes are detected. Low sensitivity finds more scenes, high sensitivity picks only major transitions.

Output Size Presets for Social Media

Extracted frames can be automatically resized to match the exact dimensions required by social media platforms. No need for a separate image editor:

The contact sheet mode arranges evenly-spaced thumbnails into a single grid image. Now with optional metadata overlays:

• Configurable Grid — Choose the number of thumbnails and columns. The grid adapts to your preferences.
• Timecode Overlay — Each thumbnail shows its exact position in the video, so you can jump to the right moment instantly.
• File Info Header — The contact sheet includes the filename, resolution, and duration at the top for quick reference.

How to Use It

1. Add your video files to VideoRecompress Studio.
2. Check Extract Frames and select SmartBestFrames mode.
3. Pick an output size preset (YouTube, Instagram, etc.) or keep the original resolution.
4. Click Start. The best frames are extracted and saved to a subfolder next to your videos.
